Frames Friday: Etnia Barcelona

framefridayetniabarcelona_1

Etnia Barcelona is a brand focused on innovations in the use of color in acetate. Currently they work with more than 500 color references, each one of which has been designed by the Etnia Barcelona creative team and produced at the Mazzucchelli (Italy) acetate factory, carefully selecting the pigments to establish a “rainbow” range with a futuristic approach.

If you are looking for bright, bold and on-trend color selections, Etnia Barcelona is your brand. The frames pictured above are the “Delhi” frames. Another great feature of the Etnia Barcelona frames is their commitment to sustainability. They use 100% eco-friendly acetate, made from natural organic elements like cotton and wood pulp. This makes their frames 100% recyclable and biodegradable!

framesfridaypetite_1

This Friday we are showcasing frames for petite ladies! We hear it often – “I have to shop in the kids section because my face is small!”. Well, not at eye2eye. We offer several stylish options for ladies in need of petite frames.

The Bevel “Check” Frame is pictured above – a great option for smaller sized faces. It comes in a variety of colors – pictured above is black and ivory and the brown and mint color variations. This is an acetate frame, hand polished and very comfortable. Bevel uses the highest quality acetate when producing their frames.

Another frame to consider is the Bevel “Walkabout“. The Walkabout is included in Bevel’s Titan line of titanium frames. Titanium frames are a lighter wear than acetate and provide optimal comfort and long wearability. The “Walkabout” comes in a variety of color options.

If you are on the hunt for a pair of petite frames – call or click to schedule an appointment. We’ll evaluate your vision and get you fitted by our expert opticians for the perfect pair!

Frames Friday: Bevel Men’s Frames

framesfridaymensbevel_1

Ah, Fridays! They are the best, aren’t they? Especially since it means Frames Friday is here at eye2eye! Each Friday we select a brand or pair of frames to highlight – this week it’s men’s frames by Bevel. The two styles of frames we selected are the ChinChin & the Figjam (great names, right?). The ChinChin is rather famous thanks to its celebrity accolade – Matt Damon wears the ChinChin frame in navy. And we must say Mr. Damon looks rather dashing in his frames! Wouldn’t you agree?

Besides being worn by a celebrity – the ChinChin frames are truly something to rejoice. Lightweight and made from titanium, they are sure to bring hours of wearable comfort. Bevel’s line of titanium frames is called Titan – touting 4mm thick titanium, they are built to last but won’t wear heavy on your face. The ChinChin frames feature a “frameless” bottom, giving them a sophisticated look.

Bevel’s Figjam frame is one of our favorites. Also a part of their Titan line, they are made from a Beta-titanium that is hypoallergenic, thin, flat, flexible and extremely light-weight. The shape of these frames are great for men and some women too!

Both the ChinChin and the Figjam frames come in a variety of colors – to give you options for your personal style. Want to stop in and get fitted for a pair? Book an appointment here!

2013 Alexandria Chamber of Commerce Business Awards

Alexandria-Chamber-Award-Nominee-Logo

We are honored to be nominated for the 2013 Alexandria Chamber of Commerce Best in Business award!

Eye2eye Optometry Corner opened in September of 2008, helping to transform an empty, run down corner of Mt Vernon Ave into the vibrant, locally-owned business hub it is today . With help from the Small Business Development Center of Alexandria, our vision of bringing an independently female-owned community eye care center came to life. Since then eye2eye has partnered with local schools to provide eye care and eyeglasses to those children in need. We participate in fundraising auctions for community schools and partner with the Lions Club to collect and recycle eyewear that is no longer wanted for use in the Lions Club projects for the poor. Eye2eye Optometry is strong in our commitment to serving our local community.

We believe our efforts to support independent eyeglass vendors that invest locally to produce their products sets us apart from other optometry practices. Because we are not a large corporation, we are able to gear our services and products towards high quality products and services for our community. We support eyewear brands that make a commitment to the planet and to their communities, taking part in programs like Eco-Frames glasses recycling program and as well as stocking Eco-Frames glasses made from 95% recycled materials.

Providing high quality service to our patients and customers is our number one priority. We provide on-site processing services to help serve those who need last-minute eye care solutions and we offer a wide range of eye care services and treatments to meet all of our customers’ needs.

We are honored to be recognized for our efforts with the 2013 Alexandria Chamber of Commerce Business Awards nomination. We hope to continue to serve our neighborhood of Del Ray and the community of Alexandria for many years to come.

Frames Friday: Men’s Zero G Tribeca

framesfridayzerog1

This Frames Friday post is for the men! Zero G is a brand of eyewear touts “zero gravity” or “weightlessness”. Their exclusive collection of frames focuses on classic, modern, and timeless shapes in rich colors and unique patterns.

Zero G eyewear is designed in California and handcrafted in Japan. They take a lot into consideration when designing their eyewear – factors like style, balance, comfort and weightlessness. All Zero G frames are hypoallergenic, 40% lighter than stainless-steel, and cut from a single sheet of surgical-grade titanium.

Zero G frames are a great choice if you are looking for a frame that feels like it is barely there. Their weightlessness makes all day wear comfortable and the surgical-grade titanium means they are built to last.

The frame pictured above is their “Tribeca” design. It comes in black, black/grey, black silver gradient (pictured on model), brown/olive, pewter and brushed blue steel.

Today is our five year anniversary! We have come a long way since 2008 – in the photo above you will see a photo of our practice today and a photo of the building we moved into in 2008. We rehabbed the old building you see pictured above and helped to bring some life to our end of Mt. Vernon Ave in Del Ray.

Since we opened in 2008 we have seen many patients, fixed many broken glasses, helped many people achieve healthy vision and made dear friends out of patients.

We thought a fun way to celebrate our five year anniversary would be to share some fun facts about eye2eye Optometry Corner!
